Doylestown Senior Couple Reunited After One Year Apart: WATCH

After 72 years of marriage, Bill and Lola Fuller had to spend a year apart during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday, they had brunch.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — It's been one year since the coronavirus began ravaging nursing homes and senior living facilities across the country, which have been among the hardest hit communities by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For Bill and Lola Fuller, a Doylestown couple married for 72 years, it meant they couldn't be together despite being in the same place. The residents of the Wesley Enhanced Living facility in Doylestown have spent the past year apart, with Bill living in the independent living wing of the campus and his wife in the health center.

Prior to the pandemic, the couple enjoyed brunch together every Sunday since 2012, their daughter, Ann Teschner, told 6 ABC News.

"I could tell by my father's physical appearance, the facial expressions, the tone of voice — I knew it was really hard especially in the beginning," Teschner told the TV station.

Now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the couple was able to enjoy brunch together this past Sunday.

"They looked younger to me on Sunday. They just looked on the top of their game," Teschner said.
