VIA Of Doylestown Sponsoring QPR Suicide Prevention Training
Often described as "CPR for mental health," QPR training empowers everyday community members to take action when someone may be struggling.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The VIA of Doylestown will be holding QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention training sessions during January as part of its newly launched REACH initiative, a community-focused effort designed to promote mental health awareness, connection, and support.
The QPR trainings will be led by representatives from the Lenape Valley Foundation. The sessions will equip participants with practical, evidence-based skills to recognize warning signs of suicide, engage in supportive conversations, and connect individuals in crisis with appropriate help.

“The REACH initiative reflects the VIA’s commitment to strengthening the well-being of our community,” said Kathleen Krick, President of the VIA. “By offering QPR training, we are helping people feel more confident and prepared to support one another.”

- Recognizing warning signs and risk factors for suicide
- How to ask direct, compassionate questions
- Persuasion techniques to encourage seeking help
- How to refer individuals to local and national resources
- Real-world scenarios and practical applications
- The training is free and appropriate for adults of all backgrounds, including caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and concerned community members. No prior mental health training is required.
