Driver Arrested On DUI Charges In Plumstead: Crime Report

Two others have been charged with retail theft following separate incidents in the township.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Dec. 15 and 17:

December 15

  • RETAIL THEFT - A 57-year-old man faces a retail theft charge following an incident at the Wawa store on Easton Road. According to police, a store employee witnessed the man stealing merchandise. The employee also recognized the man from his frequent visits to the store. During a court appearance, Judge Gambardella set bail at $10,000 unsecured. As a condition of his release, the man was prohibited from returning to the Wawa store.

  • RETAIL THEFT - Officers responded to the report of a retail theft in progress at a local business. Upon arrival, they spoke with the store's loss prevention employee, who had confronted a 32-year-old man for stealing merchandise from the store. Police said the man admitted to retail theft, was taken into custody and transported to Central Bucks Regional Police headquarters for processing. He was later released with charges pending.

December 17

  • DUI - Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle stopped in the roadway on Easton Road in the area of 1000 North Easton Road. Upon arrival, an officer found a gray 2022 Hyundai sedan with its hazard lights on. The officer approached the vehicle and spoke with the 26-year-old driver. During the interaction, the officer detected the odor of alcohol and observed open and empty beer cans and wine bottles in plain view. The man had glassy, bloodshot eyes and seemed confused, struggling to answer simple questions. The officer administered standardized field sobriety tests, which the driver failed to complete satisfactorily. Based on the officer's observations, the individual was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest. Charges are pending.

  • Trespassing - The Police Department is seeking help in identifying an individual who entered private property in the area of the 5500 block of Down Run Road. On Dec. 18 at approximately 1:30 p.m., a man entered the property and then entered a shed. Police said the individual then walked around the property before exiting towards the nearby park.
