Firefighters Knock Down Doylestown Porch Fire, Respond to Gas Leak In Plumstead

Firefighters spent a busy Monday afternoon handling a porch fire in Doylestown Twp. and a gas leak at the Plumstead Square Shopping Center.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Firefighters spent a busy Monday afternoon, first knocking down a porch fire and then handling a gas leak at a shopping center.

At 12:30 p.m., firefighters and police responded to a dwelling fire in the 1900 block of Lower State Road (Castle Valley section of Doylestown Township).

Firefighters from Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 arrived within minutes and went in service with hose lines and quickly extinguished an exterior fire on the porch. Crews then performed overhaul operations and vented the building.

Damage was contained to the exterior of the property. Firefighters were able to rescue a cat from the smoky house.

Assisting Doylestown Fire Company No. 1 at the scene were the Warrington Township Department of Emergency Services, Warrington Fire Co. No. 1 Warwick Township Fire Company No. 1, Chalfont Fire Company, Midway Volunteer Fire Company, Hartsville Fire Company and Warrington EMS.

Around 4 p.m., firefighters responded to the Plumstead Square Shopping Center in the 5800 block of Easton Road in Plumstead Township after a construction crew hit a gas main.

The shopping center was evacuated while fire companies stood by as PECO crews responded to the scene. According to the firefighters, damage was contained to the exterior of the property.

Assisting the Plumsteadville Fire Company were Doylestown Fire Co. No. 1, Dublin Fire Co. and the Point Pleasant Fire Company.
