Fraudulent Credit Card Scheme Lands New York Man In Bucks Co. Jail

Warrington Township police said the man made close to $9,000 in fraudulent purchase at home improvement stores in Pennsylvania.

WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A New York man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a fraudulent credit card scheme in which he racked up nearly $9,000 in purchases.

In early 2024, Warrington Township began an investigation after a resident notified police that they had received a credit card statement from Lowe's for nearly $9,000 worth of purchases, which they told police they did not make.

The investigation revealed that 27-year-old Rahson Govantes from Cambria Heights, N.Y,. committed the fraud, using the card at numerous Lowe's stores in Pennsylvania, from Pottstown to Lancaster to make purchases.

A warrant was issued for Govantes' arrest for access device fraud, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property.

On January 2, Govantes was stopped by New Jersey State Police in Warren County, New Jersey, and placed under arrest. He was transported to Warren County Jail until January 10 when he was picked up by the Bucks County Sheriff's Department and transported to the Warrington Police Station.

Govantes was processed and arraigned by Judge Wertman who set bail at $25,000 or 10 percent cash. He was unable to post bail and was transported to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
