Historians To Kick Off 'Doylestown Celebrates 250' With Free Event

The event will feature an appearance by famed inventor and American Revolutionary Benjamin Franklin.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — The Doylestown Historical Society will kick off its celebration of the nation's 250th birthday with a free event on Saturday, Oct. 18 at the DHS Barn and Park on South Main Street in Doylestown Borough.

Famed inventor and American Revolutionary Benjamin Franklin will make a guest appearance to speak about the signers of the Declaration of Independence.

Taking place from 12:30 to 4 p.m., the celebratory afternoon will also feature barbershop music, a Lenni Lenape informational table, a Town Crier, and the display of an authentic 1770 period gown.

The afternoon will also feature the unveiling of a Doylestown Celebrates 250 ornament and calendar, the introduction of the society's 2026 lecture series, announcements detailing the society's 2026 video series and art and history contests, and lots more.

Next year marks the nation's 250th birthday with events planned throughout the year, both locally in Doylestown and Bucks County, regionally in the Delaware Valley and Philadelphia, and nationally.
