Investigation Into Cold Spring Elementary Fire Concludes

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — After seven months, the investigation into the fire at Cold Spring Elementary School has concluded.
Detectives from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and the Buckingham Township Police Department investigated the Feb. 13 fire.

"The matter is now closed. No criminal charges will be filed," the DA's office said in a statement.
No one was injured in the fire. All students and faculty were safely evacuated.

Central Bucks School District Superintendent John Kopicki, in a message to the school community, said: "Central Bucks is satisfied with the results, and has been reassured that the school, our students, staff, and surrounding community, are safe."
The District Attorney's office did not reveal the cause of the fire.
Requests for information regarding the cause were not immediately returned; Patch will update this story when we hear back.
An inquiry to the Central Bucks School District communications representative regarding the cost of the damage from the fire was also not immediately returned.
“After a thorough investigation of this isolated incident, this matter is now closed,” District Attorney Matthew D. Weintraub said in a statement. “School should be a safe place for our children to be every day. All of the occupants of Cold Spring Elementary School and its surrounding communities are safe.”
The fire was reported in an unoccupied classroom on the second floor of the school building. When firefighters arrived to the scene on Durham Road, smoke was visible and students were evacuated, police said.
"The building's sprinkler system activated and the fire was contained to one classroom," according to police.
