Journal Nominates Bucks Co. Writers For Prestigious Pushcart Prize

Since 1976, the Pushcart Prize has been awarded annually for works of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Bucks County writers have been nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize by "Neshaminy," the Bucks County Historical and Literary Journal.

Since 1976, the Pushcart Prize has been awarded annually for works of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction published by literary magazines or small presses during the current year. Editors may nominate up to six poems, short stories, memoirs, or essays published, or scheduled to be published, in each year.

The Pushcart Prize was named among the most influential projects in the history of American publishing by Publishers Weekly.

For 2024, Neshaminy’s nominated works are:

  • Essay: “Operation ’64: A Matter of Civic Pride” by Lee Bigelow Davis and Melissa D. Sullivan, Neshaminy: The Bucks County Historical and Literary Journal, Spring/Summer 2024.
  • Essay: “John Updike—One Walks by Faith, and One Writes by Faith” by Don Swaim, Neshaminy: The Bucks County Historical and Literary Journal, Fall/Winter 2024.

This is the second time Neshaminy has nominated work for Pushcart consideration. All nominated work is available in the 2024 Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter issues of Neshaminy.
