Man Arrested On Burglary, Strangulation Charges: Doylestown Twp. Police Report

Township police reported numerous arrests and incidents during August for assault, DUI, illegal dumping, narcotics, and theft.

DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Doylestown Township Police handled 802 calls for service during August. There were 30 traffic accidents investigated. Police issued 63 traffic citations, 156 traffic warnings, and 3 non-traffic citations. Here are some of the incidents and arrests reported by police:

Assault

  • Officers conducted an assault investigation at a home on Aspen Way on August 7. A 41-year-old man was arrested, arraigned, and remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
  • A 76-year-old woman was cited with harassment on August 30 following unwanted physical contact with a nurse at Doylestown Hospital.

Burglary

  • Officers responded to an apartment complex on Almshouse Road on August 21 for a known man who had broken into a home through a window. Officers quickly located and detained 69-year-old man attempting to flee. After a thorough investigation, he was arrested for burglary, strangulation, criminal trespass, assault, terroristic threats, and related offenses. He was arraigned and remanded to Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Driving Under the Influence

  • A 24-year-old man was arrested on August 3 for DUI following a traffic stop for excessive speed on Easton Road near its interchange with Route 202.
  • A 40-year-old man was taken into custody for DUI on August 19 after an officer observed unsafe driving behavior on S. Shady Retreat Road near Butler Avenue.
  • A 37-year-old man was arrested for DUI on August 20 after an officer observed unsafe driving behavior on Almshouse Road.

Fraud

  • There were seven reports of fraud during August. "Please talk with your elderly family members and keep a close watch on any suspicious transactions," police said. "Remember that no legitimate organization will ask for payment through gift cards or Bitcoin deposits."

Illegal Dumping

  • On August 11, officers investigated when an unauthorized person left large items near dumpsters on a private commercial property on South Easton Road. The person was identified and educated on the criminal charges applicable for their actions. They paid for the cost of removing their extra-large trash so no charges were filed.

Narcotics Violation

  • Officers responded to the Stonington Farms Complex on August 27 after a complaint was received about a subject smoking marijuana. A 27-year-old man was located, and a non-traffic citation was issued.

Theft

  • Officers investigated a retail theft on August 10 that had previously occurred at the Kohl’s Department Store where two men stole $858 worth of merchandise. Through investigation, a 33-year-old man was identified and later turned himself in on the charges.
  • Officers investigated theft of property from Doylestown Hospital grounds on August 11. After reviewing video, the property was found to have been removed by landscapers who later returned the property. No charges were warranted.
  • On August 13, a leaf blower, valued at $114 was stolen from a front yard at the Colonial Heritage community. The investigation is ongoing.
