Man Charged With Defrauding Warrington Videographer
The company claims the New Jersey man paid them with a bad check for work they did on a Sept. 11, 2001, documentary.
WARRINGTON, PA — A New Jersey man is facing charges after he allegedly cheated a Warrington business owner out of $2,500 over a documentary film about September 11, 2001.
Police have charged Nelson Elberto Garcia of Metuchen, New Jersey, with theft of services, a third-degree felony, and writing bad checks.
The owner of a Warrington video production company told police that he was contacted in 2024 by Garcia, who claimed to be a millionaire whose parents had died in the events of Sept. 11, 2001. Garcia contracted with the company to film a documentary.

On August 30, 2024, police said the victim and his assistant drove to Edison, New Jersey, where they met Garcia and filmed about three hours of footage. Garcia then paid the company $2,500 by check and requested that the check be posted-dated to Sept. 4, 2023. The victim's bank later advised the account that the check was drawn from had been closed.
The victim made several attempts to contact the suspect but was unsuccessful.

An investigation by police identified the suspect as Garcia and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On October 7, Garcia was taken into custody in Woodbridge, New Jersey, and transported to the Middlesex County Correctional Facility. On October 23, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department took custody of Garcia and transported him to the Warrington Township Police Department.
Garcia was processed and arraigned by Judge Wertman, who released him on $25,000 unsecured bail.
