Man Faces Multiple Charges Following Plumstead Assault

Doylestown man is accused of assaulting his girlfriend and his mother while they were driving on Easton Road in the township.

PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA —A Doylestown man faces multiple charges, including strangulation, after he assaulted his girlfriend and his mother while they were driving on Easton Road in the township.

Police arrested 61-year-old Richard Ware and charged him with two counts of strangulation (applying pressure to neck or throat), a second-degree felony; two counts of simple assault; recklessly endangering another person; and public drunkenness or similar misconduct.

The victim told police the assault took place Oct. 3 while they were driving south on Easton Road. Ware, who was sitting in the backseat, placed his forearm around the victim's throat, impeding her ability to breathe and leaving a small red mark on the right side of her neck.

Ware was taken into custody and transported to the Central Bucks Regional Police Station where he was processed and arraigned by Judge Snow. Judge Snow set secured bail at $1,000 and imposed conditions that he have no contact with either victim.

Ware was transported to the Bucks County Prison without incident.
