Narcotics Possession, Drunk Driving: Newtown Police Log

NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department responded to several incidents between Dec. 17 and Dec. 21.

Friday, Dec. 17

9:15 a.m. — Police were called to the Newtown Athletic Club parking lot for a report of a suspicious person. Someone said a man had been harassing a few patrons; he was found sitting in his car in the parking lot. Upon contact, police discovered suspected narcotics in his possession. He was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and possession of said suspected narcotics, and was then processed and released to his family.

3:15 p.m. — Police stopped the driver of a white Nissan for a vehicle code violation on Route 413, or Durham Road, near Route 232, or Second Street Pike. Police detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage when they spoke with the driver. They were unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and were placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Officers also found suspected narcotics in their possession. Charges are pending blood evidence and lab results.
Tuesday, Dec. 20
11:50 p.m. — Police stopped the driver of a black Jeep for committing a vehicle code violation on the Newtown Bypass near Helen Randle Park. Upon contact with the driver, the officer detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to satisfactorily perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
