Nearly 1 In 3 Bucks Co. COVID-19 Tests Coming Back Positive: See Latest Stats

Cases in children have dramatically increased since last week. Hospitalizations are rising countywide, too.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Bucks County's COVID-19 positivity rate jumped to 32.3 percent between Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 last week, according to the latest health department data. That's an 18.6 percent leap from the previous week.

The county positivity rate was 10.7 percent just one month ago, meaning it has more than tripled.

The Bucks County Department of Health reported 4,947 cases, an increase of 1,921 from the previous week.

In children under 11, the county reported 448 cases, up by 243 from the previous week. Children between 12 and 18 saw an increase of 133 cases, for 411 total.

Twenty five people died from COVID-19 last week, with 8 as delayed reports from the previous two weeks.

On Friday, 241 people were in Bucks County hospitals with COVID-19, the county health department said. That's 87 more hospitalizations than the previous week. Twelve of those patients were on ventilators, a decrease of one.

Last week, 3,399 people in Bucks County got their second shot, for a total of 372,524 people fully-vaccinated in our area.

In their first meeting of the new year, the Bucks County commissioners issued a disaster emergency declaration and ordered more than 300,000 COVID-19 test kits for distribution to residents. Plans are being finalized for their distribution, the Bucks County Courier Times said.
