OctoberFeast Bringing Beer, German Bands To Peddler's Village

OctoberFeast will include live music, a beer garden, outdoor food, activities, and the village-wide Scarecrows in the Village display

LAHASKA, PA — Peddler's Village will take on the look and feel of a Bavarian village this weekend when it celebrates OctoberFeast with beer, bands, axe-throwing, German-inspired food, and lots more.

The autumn festival, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11 and 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., also offers guests the chance to view and vote for their favorite scarecrows on display during Scarecrows in the Village. This year’s scarecrow display features more than 200 creations, all handmade by area residents and organizations. Guests can vote for their favorites on the Peddler’s Village mobile app through Oct. 13.

OctoberFeast will feature special entertainment by two local German bands, Polkadelphia and the Philadelphia German Brass Band, as well as performances by the Galena Brass Band. The festival will also offer outdoor food and drinks at six restaurant tents and food trucks, pay-as-you-go activities, including axe-throwing, moonbounces, pumpkin painting, sand art, and a petting zoo, and free activities, including hay piles and lawn games.

Admission to the festival is free. VIP packages are available for purchase that include priority parking, Peddler’s Village merchandise, and a $20 dining gift card. OctoberFeast will be held rain or shine; however, in case of severe weather, activities and entertainment may change or be moved indoors.

Scarecrows in the Village, which features more than 200 handmade scarecrow creations, is on display through October 26. The annual display welcomes thousands of guests each year for its colorful – and creepy – creations submitted by local residents and organizations. Guests can vote for their favorite scarecrow in each category using a paper ballot or the Peddler’s Village mobile app through October 13.

Upcoming Halloween Events

Upcoming Halloween events include an adult Halloween party, "Deadly Silent Disco Party," on Friday, October 24, and a Halloween party for kids, the "Slightly Batty Halloween Wing-Ding," which takes place on Saturday, October 25. Tickets are required for the adult and kids Halloween parties.

On Sunday, October 26, from 2 to 4 p.m., during Trick-or-Treat in the Village, costumed children can can go trick-or-treating at five village locations. Parents are encouraged to RSVP by October 24 for a chance to win a $50 Giggleberry Fair gift card.

Beginning on Monday, October 27 and continuing through Halloween Day, Friday, October 31, guests who arrive in costume to Hart’s Tavern will receive discounted Halloween-themed drinks and appetizers during the Halloween Happy Hour from 4 to 6 p.m. The offer is only valid at Hart’s Tavern.

Other upcoming events include Apple Festival on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1 and 2, A Night with Mrs. Claus on Friday, Nov. 7, and Holiday Kickoff Weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 14 to 16. The Holiday Kickoff Weekend marks the beginning of the spectacular million-light holiday display at Peddler’s Village as well as the annual Gingerbread Competition & Display. The 25th annual Grand Illumination Celebration, featuring Santa, Mrs. Claus, and other special guests, takes place on the evening of Friday, Nov. 14. The presenting sponsor of the holiday season at Peddler’s Village is Uber.

The deadline to enter the Gingerbread Competition & Display, which runs from Nov. 14 through Jan. 17, is Nov. 5. All members of the public are invited to participate for a chance to win cash prizes.
