Biking Enthusiasts Will Bring Back 'Bucks County Classic'

Organizers of the Bucks County Classic will bring back the annual cycling event to Doylestown with help from the community.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Organizers of the Bucks County Classic will bring back the annual cycling event to Doylestown.

The event went virtual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but organizers say this year's event could use some financial support from the community.

"Our local businesses have supported us for 17 years but are stretched thin after COVID and can't carry the fundraising load alone," said organizer Laura Reppert and Elizabeth Wyckoff, a community member, on their GoFundMe page. "We're asking you and your family to help."

The 2021 event, slated for Sunday, September 12, will feature professional and amateur men's and women's races, a free community zone with games, giveaways and entertainment, free kids races, and a bring your own bike course.

The group's 2021 car sponsor, the Fred Beans Family of Dealerships, has agreed to match up to $10,000 in donations.

"The Bucks County Classic is a highly anticipated event each year that unites our community and highlights so many things that make Doylestown a special place, including its rich art scene and cycling friendly streets,” said Fred Beans Automotive Group Vice President Beth Beans Gilbert.

This year will mark the 17th Bucks County Classic.
