DOYLESTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Residents are being warned by police of a new extortion scam making the rounds.

According to the Doylestown Township Police Department, victims receive an email with their name, address and telephone number.

"The sender will claim he knows all about you and has installed malware on your computer and has embarrassing photographs of you. The sender will then request money in Bitcoin in return for not posting the photographs," police said.

"This is a scam," said police. "Have no fear. Your computer and data were not compromised."
