Police Make Arrests For DUI, Drug Possession In Plumstead Township
Police also investigated several incidents of fraud including an unauthorized bank transfer and an attempted withdrawal of $5,000.
PLUMSTEAD TOWNSHIP, PA — The Plumstead Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Dec. 30 and Jan. 4:
December 30
- Fraud Report - Officers received a call from a Plumstead resident reporting an unauthorized $2,000 transfer from their bank account. The resident contacted the business involved in the transaction and obtained a name associated with the transfer. A fraud report was already filed with their bank. Officers advised the resident to monitor their accounts closely.
- DUI Arrest - While patrolling Point Pleasant Pike, an officer observed a vehicle weaving and drifting into the opposite lane. During the traffic stop, the officer noted the driver showed signs of intoxication, including glassy eyes, slurred speech, and the smell of alcohol. The driver, a 64-year-old man from New Hope, failed a preliminary breath test (PBT) and was arrested for DUI. Charges are pending the results of a blood alcohol test.

- Drug Possession Arrest - Officers conducted a traffic stop on the 611 Bypass. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong smell of marijuana. The driver admitted to possessing marijuana, retrieved a backpack containing it, and gave consent for a vehicle search. Officers confiscated marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Philadelphia, was arrested and issued a non-traffic citation.
January 4
- Fraud Attempt - A Plumstead resident contacted the station to report an incident of fraud. The resident's bank branch in Georgia informed them of a $5,000 withdrawal attempt that failed due to an alert on the account. The suspect was unable to provide credentials and left the bank. The case remains under investigation.
- Domestic Disturbance - Officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Winterberry Drive. A woman stated she was attempting to leave the residence with her children, but her ex-boyfriend was preventing her. Officers de-escalated the situation and informed both parties of the need for a court order. The woman left the scene without incident.
