Hanukkah is the Jewish 8-day, wintertime "festival of lights," celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers, and fried food.
WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Shops at Valley Square will celebrate Hanukkah with a Community Menorah Lighting on Sunday, Dec. 29 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The event takes place on the fifth night of Hanukkah.
Hanukkah is the Jewish eight-day, wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods.
The festival traces its origins to the second century BCE when against all odds, a small band of faithful but poorly armed Jews, led by Judah the Maccabee, defeated one of the mightiest armies on earth, drove the Greeks from the land, reclaimed and rededicated the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.
