Three Doylestown Students Win Youth Solo Contest

The students claimed victory in the Bucks County category of the Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center's solo contest.

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Three Doylestown students claimed victory in the Bucks County category of the International Youth Solo Contest put on by the Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center.

First place was awarded to Central Bucks West High School student Sierra Safran, 18, who sang "All the Things You Are" from the musical "Very Warm for May."

In second place was 13-year-old Helena Badiali, a student at Tohickon Middle School, for her performance of "This Nearly Was Mine" from the musical "South Pacific."

Third place was awarded to Cold Spring Elementary School student Addison Rogers, 10, who sang "The Sound of Music" from the renowned musical of the same name.

Students from 28 states and two from Canada submitted solo entries for the contest.

Doylestown native Taylor Mitchell, a Central Bucks West grad who attends Elon University, took first place in the college division for her rendition of "The Sound of Music."
