1. After 10 years, Easton is (finally) ready to hire scrapyard cleanup crew (lehighvalleylive.com) — Easton is finally moving to clean up the long-vacant Easton Iron and Metal scrapyard on Bushkill Drive, opening bidding for a major environmental remediation. Once cleaned, the 11-acre site is slated for The Foundry, a $70 million mixed-use project with 200 apartments, commercial space, and connections to the Karl Stirner Arts Trail and nearby amenities, reshaping the Bushkill corridor.
   

2. Developer, Wilson Borough sue Easton over Wood Avenue warehouse (wfmz.com) — A massive warehouse proposal on Wood Avenue is now headed to court, as the developer and Wilson Borough sue the City of Easton and its planning commission over last month’s denial. Easton residents should also know the Zoning Hearing Board will hold a special public hearing Thursday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. at City Hall on a key floodplain-related exception for the project.
   

3. Calls made to amend Sunshine Act in Pennsylvania (altoonamirror.com) — An Easton-based lawmaker, Rep. Robert Freeman, is helping lead a bipartisan push to close a Pennsylvania Sunshine Act loophole that lets officials add items to meeting agendas without prior public notice. Working alongside a Republican colleague from Meadville, he’s seeking clarifying legislation to better protect residents’ ability to know and comment on what local and state bodies plan to decide.
   

4. Lehigh Valley wrestling: Northwestern Lehigh looking to take next step, plus team rankings (mcall.com) — Easton’s wrestling team is holding the No. 7 spot in this week’s Lehigh Valley rankings after recent wins over Liberty and Pocono Mountain East. The piece mainly spotlights Northwestern Lehigh’s progress and a key upcoming dual with Saucon Valley, while running through how other top regional programs are faring and where they’re headed next on the schedule.
   

5. Eatery's Allentown location permanently closes, Bethlehem spot in 'holding pattern,' co-owner says (wfmz.com) — Wiz Kidz has permanently closed its Allentown shop and paused operations at its original Bethlehem location while the owners restructure the business. The group behind Wiz Kidz, also known for The Bayou, previously operated a Centre Square Easton location that shut down in 2024, but says any remaining Wiz Kidz or Bayou gift cards can still be redeemed at The Bayou in Bethlehem.
