Forest Hills Woman Charged with Endangering Others After Apartment Fire

A local woman living in the heart of the Forest Hills business district told detectives she tried to burn her apartment down, located at 2215 Ardmore Blvd.

A woman charged with attempting to burn her apartment down in the middle of the borough’s business district was in court this week.

Jameelah L. Miller, 23 waived her right to a preliminary hearing before on charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and four counts of recklessly endangering another person. A charge of arson was withdrawn.

Allegheny County Police filed charges Feb. 11 after police and fire crews were dispatched to 2215 Ardmore Blvd. that day, located near various Forest Hills businesses, including , and others.

The fire was located in the apartment bathroom and quickly extinguished, according to the police criminal complaint.

The fire marshal was called to investigate shortly after. The police criminal complaint states that Miller told detectives she lit the fire because she was “sick of this (expletive)” and didn’t know what else to do.

Police said she used a lighter to light a towel on fire, which she then threw onto a pile of dirty clothes in the bathroom and hallway area, the complaint states.

Miller told police she is tired of being threatened and said she attempted to burn the apartment down because then she wouldn’t “have to go back there,” the complaint states.
