1. Banned Books Week— Sept. 22–28 has been designated as Banned Books Week. Libraries across the county are hosting various events and encouraging people to read in celebration of their freedoms. You can visit the C.C. Mellor Memorial Library. For hours or other information, call 412-731-0909.
2. Family Story Time, Tuesday, Sept. 24—Share a story with your little ones at  the following times and locations:  C.C. Mellor Fred Rogers Room at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for children under 5; and at 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Churchill Borough Building at 10:30 am Thursday and Wilkins Township Recreation Building at 10:30 am Friday. Â
3. Band Competition, Saturday, Sept. 28—The Woodland Hills High School Marching Band & Images Visual Ensemble will host their annual competition at 6 p.m. at The Wolvarena.Â
4. Flea Market, Saturday, Sept. 28—Boy Scout Troop 23 will hold a Flea Market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood, 120 East Swissvale Ave. Proceeds will be used to fund troop activities..Â
5. Organ Recital, Sunday, Sept. 29—Swissvale Presbyterian Church will hold a recital with a visiting organist at 1 p.m. at the church, 1825 Monongahela Ave. The public is invited.Â
