Wilkinsburg Woman Pleads Guilty in Cocaine Trafficking Conspiracy

Shaunta Monique Wright, 34, of 307 S. Trenton Avenue, Wilkinsburg, has pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of violating federal narcotics laws.

Wright waived prosecution by indictment and pleaded guilty to a one-count information before Chief U.S. District Judge Gary L. Lancaster.

In connection with the guilty plea, the court was advised that from in or around October 2011 until about June 9, 2012, Wright conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.
Lancaster scheduled sentencing for 11 a.m. June 14.

The law provides for a total sentence of not less than five years and up to 40 years in prison, a fine of $5,000,000, or both. Under the federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based upon the seriousness of the offense and the criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine A. King is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation that led to the prosecution of Wright.
