Swissvale Cub Scouts Hold Pinewood Derby, Introduce 'Outlaw Race'

The local event was held Friday.

Cub Scout Pack 52 of Swisshelm Park/Swissvale held its annual Pinewood Derby Friday night at the Sarah J. Black Community Center.

Fifteen scouts built and raced cars, competing for trophies for speed and most creative car.

Pack 52 also has a unique second race, called the "Outlaw Race," in which there are no limits to the cars' weights or designs, while siblings (and dads!) were allowed to compete.
