Three Local Schools to Merge into "East Catholic" at St. Maurice Location
Does this change affect you?

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported today that three local Catholic schools will merge into one this summer.
From the Post-Gazette:
“Good Shepherd School in Braddock, in and in will merge at the St. Maurice site and be called East Catholic. The school will be supported by six parishes in the East Hills and is expected to enroll 400 students.
Father Kris Stubna said the consolidations, which follow a "consortium model," will allow for a better use of resources, enhanced academic and extra-curricular activities and lower tuition at the regional schools. Tuition for East Catholic will be $3,200 for the first child and at the new school located at the St. Angela Merici site, $2,700.”

Local teachers and principals have declined to comment. Kelly Hall, a Word of God parent, had this to say:
"I am sure that it brings much sadness to all the families and teachers involved. Being a parent from Word of God School, I pray that the teachers from Word of God School are given the opportunity to nurture the future students at East Catholic."
