Bakery 'Bullied' For Making Trump Gingerbread House Gets Hatboro Support
Hatboro Borough Council came to the defense of Lochel's Bakery, saying Friday that businesses should not be "harassed and bullied."

HATBORO, PA — Borough officials are speaking out about Lochel's Bakery being "harassed and bullied" for making cookies, cakes, and baked goods inspired by President Trump.
Council members said the hatred "being spewed toward them is unnerving."
"If you do not like a product, any business offers you can simply choose not to purchase it," Hatboro Borough Council said in a statement on Friday. "To threaten someone for making a gingerbread house is simply ridiculous. We must come together as a community and show what it truly means to be a Hatboro resident, and prove that hate has no place in Hatboro."

Lochel's Bakery caught flak on social media for making President Trump-related baked goods, triggering hundreds of comments mainly in the form of online attacks on its Facebook page and then later on a Patch article about the Trump products.
"This goes against everything that the borough stands for and the message that we have been promoting for the last eight years," the Hatboro Borough Council said in a statement on Friday. "One of the first values that we instilled was that hate has no place in our town. We pride ourselves on our small-town charm and our community values. One of the best aspects of Hatboro is that we look out for each other and support our neighbors and businesses regardless of any political views."
Hatboro officials said one of the borough's greatest strengths is being a place for voicing different opinions.

"At the end of the day, we are still neighbors and friends," the council's joint statement continued. "Lochel’s Bakery has been synonymous with Hatboro over the last few years. They have supported the Borough and the community, brought national attention to Hatboro, and continue to be one of the cornerstones of the business community."
