"The painstaking slow process of utility relocation on Blair Mill Road continues, but is getting closer to completion," township officials said in a Facebook post.

"Believe it or not, there are 15 different utility companies with wires/cables on the poles and this doesn’t include underground utilities so there has been a whole lot of coordination and scheduling," officials said.

Officials said they hope the contractor can start the roadwork next month.

The project calls for widening Blair Mill Road to five lanes from Welsh Road to Easton Road.

Phase II is an $8.5 million endeavor made possible through funding from Horsham Township, a PennDOT Multimodal State Grant, and a Military Installation Remediation and Infrastructure Authority (MIRIA) grant.

Phase II is a two-year project with utility relocations in the first year and road improvements in the second year, concentrated on Blair Mill Road, Witmer Road, and the Commerce Avenue intersection, township officials said.

Some work will be performed in front of PJ Whelihan’s, but the majority of work will be done at the Blair Mill Road and the Witmer Road/Commerce Drive intersection.

The final phase, Phase III, is in engineering design.
