A Driver Who Sought To Harm Himself Purposely Crashed Into A Traffic Signal And Restaurant
Hatboro police say the 21-year-old Huntingdon Valley man crashed into a traffic signal and building on purpose. Only driver was injured.

HATBORO, PA — Borough police say a man intentionally crashed into a traffic signal and building Tuesday morning because he was trying to harm himself.
The 21-year-old Huntingdon Valley man was driving his 2007 Ford Fusion westbound on Byberry Road, traveling through the intersection with South York Road, when he struck and "severely damaged" the traffic signal and a restaurant at the intersection, according to the Hatboro Police Department.
No one was at the restaurant at the time of the incident, but the driver, whose name was not released, did appear to have minor injuries and ended up being transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital for treatment and for an emergency mental health evaluation, according to police.

The incident happened around 7:19 Tuesday morning in the vicinity of the 100 block of South York Road.
"Police believe the driver acted deliberately as he told police he was trying to harm himself," according to the borough.

The name of the restaurant that was reportedly damaged in the incident was not released.
Hatboro police said that the matter is currently under investigation, and they asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact Hatboro Police Officer Alex Bruckner at 215-675-2832.
