Tax Increase Approved For Horsham Residents
At its final meeting of the year, the Horsham Township Council approved its $24 million municipal budget for 2026.
HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA — Township residents will pay over $90 more in municipal taxes under the 2026 municipal budget approved by the Horsham Township Council at its final meeting of the year earlier this month.
At its Dec. 10 meeting, the council approved the final $23.9 million 2026 municipal budget with a millage rate to 2.75 mills, an increase of 0.495 of a mill.
That means a township resident with an average home assessment of $188,836 will pay $514.57 in municipal taxes, an increase of $93.47 over 2025.

Township Manager Bill Walker said during the budget process that there were three major budget expenses for 2026.
They included $658,441 in funding for the fire department. The department is adding two new full-time positions. With 12 full-timers, both battalions to be staffed around the clock.

Meanwhile, the police department pension fund is 90 percent funded, and the township faces a minimum payment of $275,000.
The township also must install 40 ADA ramps that are required along the roads it plans to pave. The cost of those ramps is $220,000.
In other township council business:
- Newly elected Democratic council members Ruth Patterson, John McCarty, and Elizabeth Thomson will be sworn in during the council’s organization meeting at 7 p.m. on Jan. 5.
- The council appointed Jack Butler to a four-year term on the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority.
- A zoning code amendment allows for the creation of the Village Commercial District on Horsham Road near Limekiln Pike. The council will inform residents if any developments are proposed for the parcel.
