Hatboro Officer Ryan Allen, Hospitalized More Than A Month, Finally Moves To Rehab Center

HATBORO, PA — The borough police officer who has been in the hospital for more than a month after suffering cardiac arrest brought on by a rare bee sting reaction is finally moving to a rehabilitation facility.

Ryan Allen, a K9 officer with the Hatboro Police Department, was officially discharged Tuesday from the neuro intensive care unit at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia and moved to MossRehab's Drucker Brain Injury Center, according to his wife, Whitney Allen, who posted the news to Facebook.

"We are both relieved that Ryan is ready for this next stage in his recovery but also nervous as it is a totally new environment and there are so many unknowns still ahead of us," Whitney Allen stated in her post. "I know in my heart that Ryan is in the best place possible for this part of his recovery and we are forever grateful to the staff at Penn Presbyterian for helping him get to this place in order to move on to this crucial step."

Ryan Allen is a beloved member of the Hatboro Police Department who was integral in helping to start up the agency's K9 unit.

Ryan and Whitney Allen live with their young son in Doylestown, Bucks County. Whitney Allen is currently pregnant with their second child.
