Since the 1970s, Hatboro's York Road Business District has been known for large celebrations following championship wins by Philadelphia sports franchises.

The chief said that most of these spontaneous events have been "largely celebratory and peaceful."

As a precaution, the Hatboro Police Department is recommending business and property owners secure items that are outside of their storefronts and properties.

Police said that includes moving sign boards, private trash containers, and unsecured furniture from sidewalks inside.

Any establishment that's licensed to serve alcoholic beverages should also have adequate staffing to prevent customers from leaving with open containers of alcoholic beverages, especially bottles, glass, and cans, police said.

Businesses along York Road will also receive hand-delivered notices directly from the police department besides the borough's online notices.

"With your assistance, we hope to make any celebration that may occur safe for all," the police chief said. "Thank you for your cooperation and GO EAGLES!"
