Hatboro Officer Ryan Allen, Hospitalized 7 Weeks, Gets To Go Outside For The First Time

HATBORO, PA — The local police officer who was rushed to the hospital in October following a heart attack brought on by a freak bee sting allergic reaction recently got to smell the outdoor fresh air for the first time in seven weeks.
Hatboro K9 Officer Ryan Allen, who up until just recently was in the neuro intensive care unit of Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, is now at a rehabilitation facility in the city that specializes in brain injuries.
His wife, Whitney Allen, posted to social media this past weekend that her husband got to go outside on Saturday for the first time in seven weeks, "no tubes attached to him, no crazy gadgets strapped to him, just him in his wheelchair, looking like he was sunbathing."

Whitney Allen made the announcement Dec. 4 on her Facebook page.
"Ryan is settling into Moss Rehabilitation and has been getting used to his new rigorous programming after so long in a hospital setting," Whitney Allen wrote. "He is doing better than I ever imagined ..."

Whitney Allen said her husband has been undergoing occupational, physical and speech therapy most days of the week, and that the next goal will be to hopefully get him to be more alert and more aware of his surroundings.
"This is the next crucial stage in his recovery," Whitney Allen posted.
