October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the third year in a row, Keith Valley Middle School held its annual Lisa Giardetti Soccer Classic. Giardetti was KV’s athletic secretary who lost her battle with breast cancer at age 38. This year, the game had the biggest turnout yet, the stadium was packed with families and kids of all ages.
The classic grossed $3,720 towards the fight against breast cancer this year.
The game against Abington Junior High could be spotted from miles away as everyone was decked out in bright pink. Not only were the players dressed in pink, but many of the fans were as well. The girls even played with a special breast cancer soccer ball with pink ribbons instead of the traditional black and white.

Raffles took place throughout the night as well as the selling of balloons for $1. Fans were encouraged to write on their balloon the name of someone they knew who has been impacted by breast cancer. At halftime, people with balloons gathered at the sideline to release their balloons and honor the memory of anyone touched by this disease.
