HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Moreland Avenue will be open before the start of school next week, township officials announced.

Township officials provided an update on the Route 611 intersection improvement project on Easton Road and Moreland Avenue.

The project will realign the intersection and add a new traffic signal, which will make the area much safer, township officials said.

The new traffic signal will also help slow traffic on that section of Easton Road.

While township officials said that Moreland Avenue will be open when students begin returning to the Hatboro-Horsham School District starting Tuesday, the new traffic signal will not be installed by then.

Township officials said there will be no left turns allowed onto Easton Road until the traffic signal will be installed.

The manufacturer told township officials that the traffic signal will not be shipped until November.

The project will also provide a connection to the Tinius Olsen Inc. company employees who have to make lefts in and out going to work.

The project is also jointly planned with the Horsham Water and Sewer Authority so they can install a public sewer line down Moreland Avenue from Hallowell Elementary to Easton Road to serve several residential properties whose private septic systems are failing.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
