Police Stress Safety With Hatboro Schools Opening

HATBORO, PA — The Hatboro Borough Police Department is stressing safety as students return to school on Tuesday.

Hatboro Police said that with school back in session, more children will be walking, biking, and crossing streets near borough schools.

Hatboro Police are offering safety tips for drivers, students, and parents:

For Drivers:

• Slow down in school zones
• Speed limits are strictly enforced
• Stay alert for children at crosswalks
• Stay alert at intersections and school bus stops
• Never pass a stopped school bus – it’s illegal and dangerous
• Put the phone down – distracted driving can cost lives, and it's illegal

For Students and Parents:

• Always use designated crosswalks and wait for the crossing guard’s signal before crossing
• Follow the crossing guard’s directions – they are there to keep you safe
• Cross quickly and carefully – no running, but don’t linger in the road
• Dismount bicycles, scooters, and skateboards before crossing major streets
• Avoid distractions like phones or headphones when crossing
• Make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the street
• Crossing guards are there to help — please respect and follow their instructions
