HATBORO, PA — They gathered on the lawn of the Union Library of Hatborough as an orchestra performed inside the historic York Road building. The festive spirit was alive inside as people munched on Christmas cookies and waited for the main events.

Then the sirens roared.

It was Friday night when those sirens drew everyone's attention. Out in the distance, an Enterprise Fire Company engine appeared. The truck was carrying some precious cargo: Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The borough celebrated the holiday season with the welcoming of Santa and the annual lighting of the Christmas tree on the library grounds as Mayor Tim Schultz read a proclamation as State Rep. Nancy Guenst, Library Director Christine Law, and Councilwoman Jennifer Hendrickson watched.

Santa and Mrs. Claus climbed up the library stairs and joined with the crowd for a countdown as the switch was hit and the tree was lit.
