Warminster Food Bank Gets Double Dose Of Help For Hunger Action Month

Giant Supermarket donated $10,000 & volunteer hours to help alleviate food insecurity in the community

In honor of Hunger Action Month, Warminster Food Bank recently received a donation of $10,000 from Giant Supermarket of Warminster. In addition to the donation, numerous Giant associates volunteered at the food bank on Fridays in the month of September to organize food donations.

Giant Supermarket works with Warminster Food Bank regularly through monetary donations and by being a collection site during food donation events. The funds were part of a program initiated by Giant Supermarket’s corporate office; whereby local stores can choose a charity to support in their community.

The donation of funds and volunteer hours came at just the right time, since the number of people requesting assistance from area food banks has gone up due to rising costs from inflation. The Warminster Food Bank serves over 800 individuals/200 families each month and more than 7500 individuals/1800 families each year in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.

“Giant’s gift is a huge help to us and the people we serve,” said Mike Cerino, Executive Director, Warminster Food Bank. “As inflation rises, more people are coming to the food bank asking for help. We want to help those who are experiencing food insecurity get the nutritious food they need and deserve. We are very grateful for Giant’s ongoing support and generosity in dollars, volunteer hours and food drive support.”
