West Moreland Avenue Bridge Replacement Underway

HATBORO, PA — The long-awaited project to replace the West Moreland Avenue bridge connecting the borough with Upper Moreland Township is underway, officials said.
Construction has begun to replace Montgomery County Bridge 38, which goes over a branch of the Pennypack Creek.
The bridge is located on West Moreland Avenue between Flamingo Road (Upper Moreland) and Broad Street (Hatboro), adjacent to the Hatboro Memorial Swimming Pool.

West Moreland Avenue will remain open through the initial phase of the project, which consists of site clearing and utility relocations, Upper Moreland officials said.
Bridge demolition is expected to begin in January.

When demolition starts, a PennDOT-approved full detour will be implemented.
The bridge will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians through the completion of the project, which is expected in December 2027.
