Bicyclist Hit in Front of Yocum Ford

A Lansdale Police sergeant said a bicyclist who was hit Monday by an SUV as he rode on the sidewalk in front of Yocum Ford should have been riding on the roadway.

According to The Reporter, the bicyclist was east on Main Street, when he was hit by a Ford Explorer turning into Yocum Ford at East Main and Line streets.

The bicyclist suffered a cut to his lip and other minor injuries, and refused medical treatment at the scene, according to the article.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, according to the article. The SUV sustained minor damage to its passenger side.

Sgt. Mike Trail of Lansdale Police is quoted as such in the article:

“It’s contributory negligence - he should not have been riding on the sidewalk, but she should have noticed him before making the turn."

An employee of told The Reporter that there are speeding concerns on Line Street and they would be brought before a future Lansdale Public Safety meeting.
