Chesco Man Pleads Guilty After Kidnapping Ex-Girlfriend: DA

Authorities said the man grabbed his ex-girlfriend at a local restaurant, forcing her into a vehicle.

COATESVILLE, PA — A Chester County man pleaded guilty recently to charges related to the kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend, the district attorney's office announced.

Samuel Ammon-Cruz, of Coatesville, was sentenced to 8 to 24 years in state prison as a result of a plea deal, which was approved by Judge Bret M. Binder.

The incident occurred back in March 2024.

Ammon-Cruz found his ex-girlfriend at a local restaurant and forced her into her vehicle while brandishing a knife, the DA said. They then sped off.

Pennsylvania State Police and multiple other law enforcement agencies pursued them in a high speed chase, eventually capturing Ammon-Cruz and rescuing the victim, authorities said.

Judge Binder said Ammon-Cruz “endangered law enforcement, the victim, and the community at large.”

In addition to kidnapping, Ammon-Cruz also pled guilty to aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, and other related charges.
