Chester Co. Receives Results Of Election Day Investigation, Won't Publish For Weeks
The independent law firm's investigation into the cause of the 2025 election issues is complete, but officials will not share them yet.
WEST CHESTER, PA — The independent analysis of the pollbook error during the 2025 election in Chester County has been completed, but local officials said they don't plan on sharing the results for weeks.
The law firm Fleck Eckert Klein McGarry returned the results of their investigation to the county on Dec. 19. The results are being analyzed but the county's "response" will not be released until a special meeting of the county Board of Elections on Jan. 27, more than a month after the results were returned.
"The County Commissioners, serving as the Board of Elections, and senior County administrative leadership are reviewing the results of the investigation and will begin developing a plan to prevent the reoccurrence of any similar errors in the future," the county shared in a statement.

Officials did not say why there will be such a delay between the return of the results and their publication.
An estimated 12,600 provisional ballots were cast on Election Day by those third party voters whose names were not listed in the books. That included a wide variety of Libertarian, Green Party, and Independent voters.

It remains unclear what may have caused the issue.
"The firm’s investigation consisted of an extensive research and interview process to identify the specific cause of the error and examine any related issues," the county said.
The investigation also analyzed the processes and controls that ensure poll book accuracy, how and why those controls failed, what factors prevented Voter Services staff from identifying the issues, and why supplemental poll books were not delivered to polling places in a more timely manner on Election Day.
The investigation involved formal interviews with staff and thorough reviews of all materials.
The Jan. 27 Board of Elections meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Board Room on 313 W. Market Street in West Chester.
