Black Bear Recently Spotted In Montgomery County Towns
Black bear sightings occurred last week in both Plymouth Township and Montgomery Township in Montgomery County.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Black bear sightings took place recently in two separate municipalities leading officials to issue a safety warning to residents in those respective communities.
Officials in both Montgomery Township and Plymouth Township issued public safety announcements within a couple days of each other.
In Montgomery Township, local officials said that police responded to black bear sightings on April 27 in the 1100 block of Stump Road. Officers checked the area but found no bears, the police department stated.

The township said that it notified Pennsylvania Game Commission agents, who stated they would come out to check the area and monitor for additional sightings.
"While it is not uncommon for black bears to be sighted in this area during this time of year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission says if you see a bear, never approach it," the Montgomery Township Police Department posted to Facebook.

The township said that residents who spot a black bear may contact the department or reach out to the PA Game Commission's Southeast Regional Office directly at 610-926-3136.
Meanwhile, officials in Plymouth Township announced that a black bear was spotted late last week in the area of the Harriett Wetherhill Park at 2639 Narcissa Road.
The township said that the PA Game Commission was notified and would be setting bear traps this past Saturday.
"The Game Commission stated that the bear will not harm anyone as long as you leave it alone," Plymouth Township said on Facebook.
