A driver ran a red light earlier this week causing an accident that took out a traffic light in Lansdale Borough. One driver was treated.

LANSDALE, PA — A driver ran a red light in the borough earlier this week causing an accident that took out a traffic light pole.
Lansdale Police said that the accident occurred on Tuesday at a little after 2 in the afternoon at the intersection of South Broad and Hancock Streets.
Investigators determined that one of the drivers ran a steady red light, which in turn caused it to strike another vehicle.

The force of the crash caused a traffic light pole to be knocked down, police stated.
One of the drivers involved in the crash was transported by ambulance for treatment of their injuries, police said.

Charges are pending against the driver who caused the accident; the person's identity was not released by police.
Lansdale Police said that the traffic light pole was repaired by Lansdale Borough Electric with assistance from the borough's public works department and Armour & Sons Electric Co.
The intersection was closed for several hours while crews worked to repair the traffic light.
Various area fire officials, fire police and emergency medical personnel assisted at the scene, according to police.
