Montco Elementary School Wins Blue Ribbon Award

The prestigious recognition was awarded to just 12 schools around Pennsylvania.

GREEN LANE, PA — Marlborough Elementary School in Green Lane has received one of the top education honors in the nation, as it was named a 2024 Blue Ribbon School.

The Upper Perkiomen district school was the only school in Montgomery County to receive the designation, which highlights schools that either excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups.

"This prestigious recognition highlights schools in the top 15 percent of each state that excel in academic performance or make significant strides in closing achievement gaps among different student groups," the district shared in a statement. "Yesterday, our students celebrated this great achievement!"

According to the Department of Education, being named a Blue Ribbon school “affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.”

Each school that earns the award is either among the highest performing schools in a state or among the highest performing in closing the achievement gap.

A total of 316 public schools and 40 private schools nationwide received the designation in 2024. The 12 schools that won in Pennsylvania are included below:
