NNO Shows (With Fireworks)
Area police, fire and emergency personnel will promote all their pomp and circumstance during the local National Night Out events August 7. Franconia Township's event will feature fireworks and Montco D.A. Risa Ferman in a bike race

and Franconia Township Police are two of many local law enforcement agencies sponsoring their own individual National Night Out events Tuesday, Aug. 7.
Montgomery Township Police will hold its NNO event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the in Witchwood Plaza, 125 Witchwood Drive, Montgomery Township.
According to Lt. Gerry Dougherty of Montgomery Township Police, the event is "designed to heighten and generate support for anti-crime programs and to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships."

The public can expect to meet local police representatives, along with community organizations and emergency services personnel.

- Montgomery Township Police officers, canine unit, bicycle unit, and Crime Prevention Unit
- Township Supervisors and officials
- Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale
- Representatives from Laurel House's Domestic Abuse Response Team
- JeffStat helicopter
- Petting zoo
Franconia Township will also hold its 16th-annual, triple National Award Winning NNO event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Franconia Township Community Park, Allentown Road in Franconia Township.
Its event features a custom car show, fireworks, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman on a children's bike and a MedEvac copter.
The event kicks off with the first 5K NNO Kick-Off Run on Monday, Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. Registration is at 6 p.m. at the park's Godshall Road side.
Franconia Township Police NNO Coordinator Janice Froshour called the event a time when law enforcement, local officials, businesses and citizens "get together to increae anti-crime awareness."
Froshour said in a release that Franconia Township expects to draw about 3,000 to its event.
There are new parking patterns this year:
- Parking at the park on Allentown Road will be FOR HANDICAP AND VENDOR PARKING ONLY
- ALL General Parking will be at the vacant Pilgrim's Pride plant at Route 113 and Allentown Road. Enter off Allentown Road, across from Harvest Drive.
- There will be hay rides to shuttle guests to the event
- Parking across from the park at Reformed Baptist Church WILL NOT be available, as this is the location for fireworks
- NO PARKING on Godshall Road side of the park, due to the air show, car sho and concert
Here is what is new this year to National Night Out in Franconia:
- Fireworks, sponsored by , in recognition of the township police department's 50th anniversary
- Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman will compete in the Fourth Annual Public Safety Bike Race - on a children's bike - facing off against county Sheriff Eileen Whalon Behr
- Tiny Tots SWAT Obstacle Course, presented by the North Penn Tactical Response Team
- Displays from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, the Pennsylvania National Guard, Team 67 Soapbox Racing, and Pennsylvania Department of Health's "Share the Road Initiative"
- Food, snacks and water
Here are some returning favorites:
- The township police's annual Food Drive
- Kids' Fun Zone with a hot air balloon walkabout, bounce houses, face painting, games, prizes and crafts
- The Fourth-Annual Public Safety Bike Race, where dignitaries and officers face off on children's bikes
- The 11th-annual Custom Car Show, hosted by Rayco Productions
- Kids' Fire Safety House, presented by Perkasie Fire Department and Weimer Insurance Group
- Model aircraft show and demo by Keystone Radio Control Club
- Tae Kwon Do performance at 6:30 p.m. by Mark Cashatt's Tae Kwon-Do School
- MedEvac helicopter at 7 p.m.
- Graterford Prison Mounted Unit demos
- Child fingerprinting and identification kits, sponsored by
- Meet-and-greet with Pennsylvania State Sen. Stewart Greenleaf, State Rep. Robert Godshall and more
- A mock teen bedroom exhibit to show parents what to look for in their child's room to indicate drug, alcohol and prescription drug abuse. This is sponsored by One Life One Chance and the Indian Valley Character Counts Coalition
- More than 25 safety organizations will be part of "Information Midway"
