North Montco Technical Career Center Goes Into Lockdown Thursday

The North Montco Technical Career Center in Lansdale went into lockdown Thursday morning after a report of a weapon possibly on a bus.

LANSDALE, PA — The North Montco Technical Career Center went into lockdown for nearly a half-hour Thursday morning after the school received a report about the possibility of a weapon being on a school bus, the school announced Thursday.

The school put out an announcement saying that it was briefly locked down from around 8 a.m. to around 8:20 a.m. after police advised that would be the best course of action while investigators look into the matter.

"Police were on the scene immediately and secured the premises within minutes," the school posted in a message to the community on its website. "Students were delayed at the school for about 20 minutes."

"All students are safely in their classes and classes are resuming," the school posted around 9 a.m. Thursday.

The website NorthPennNow reported that police originally got a call from the Perkiomen Valley School District about the anonymous tip involving the weapon, stating that the student who was believed to have been involved also attends North Montco.

Towamencin Police ultimately determined that the student does not attend North Montco, the website reported.

The student's identity has not been released.

Schools across the country have been on high alert in the wake of a deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas this week in which at least 19 children were killed by a gunman.
