2 Multi-Vehicle Crashes Reported Along Interstate 295
The Penndel Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 freed occupants from their vehicles Monday on the highway in Middletown Township.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA —Two separate auto extrications were performed by the Penndel Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 on Interstate 295 on Monday, fire officials said.
The first incident occurred Monday morning on Route 213 at the Interstate 295 overpass, officials said.
Following a multi-vehicle accident, fire officials found one vehicle on its side and one person trapped inside. The extrication was completed quickly with Engine 21 and Engine 22 assisting.

The second incident occurred Monday afternoon along the westbound WB Lanes of I-295 at Trenton Road in the first due. Engine 244-1 again arrived with a multiple vehicle accident with 1 on its side and 2 trapped. Companies stabilized the vehicle and went in service with a roof flap to gain access and remove both patients. Engine 77 along with Engine 7 on scene as well and the extrication was complete in less then 10 minutes.
It was unknown whether any injuries were suffered.
