Bucks Co. Coronavirus Cases Hit 5,000

The milestone was hit as the county reported just 36 new cases on Sunday and Monday — an average of 18 cases per day.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — More than 5,000 Bucks County residents now have tested positive for the coronavirus — a milestone hit even as the daily numbers of new cases continued to show signs of flattening.

The overall COVID-19 case total for Bucks County hit 5,007 on Monday.

There were 36 new cases confirmed on Sunday and Monday. That two-day average of 18 cases per day is low compared to just two weeks ago and puts Bucks County on a path to a continued loosening of state coronavirus safety restrictions.

Four new deaths from the virus have been reported since Saturday in Bucks. The three men and one woman ranged in age from 64-95 and all had underlying health conditions, county health officials said.

A total of 475 Bucks County residents who tested positive for the coronavirus have died, while 1,948 are confirmed to have recovered.

Of the 36 new cases, officials said 14 were the result of household contact, eight were residents of long-term care facilities, three were from work contacts, three were from pure community spread and two happened in healthcare settings. Six people were unable to be immediately interviewed.

Nine of those cases also were what officials call delayed transfer cases, meaning they are old cases of Bucks County residents being previously diagnosed somewhere else.

On Monday, 93 people remained hospitalized with the coronavirus, with 17 of them in critical condition and on ventilators.
