Fire At Oxford Valley Theater Prompts Evacuation During ‘Barbenheimer’

The fire was reported a little after 11 p.m. on the release date of both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer."

MIDDLETOWN, PA - A fire at an Oxford Valley theater prompted a mass evacuation on the release date of both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.”

The fire was reported at the Regal United Artists Oxford Valley theater in Middletown around 11 p.m. on July 21, Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company Chief Frank Farry told Patch.

The theater was evacuated with a “mob of people out front,” Farry said. At the scene, fire crews found a fire in the light fixture in the stairwell.

That fire was contained to the area of the light fixture, Farry said. No injuries were reported and the incident was under control in roughly 15 minutes.

The cause of the fire was determined to be an electrical malfunction.
