Lower Bucks Hospital ICU Unit Expands
The Bristol Township hospital held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday after funding was secured by U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.
LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA — Lower Bucks Hospital has completed an expansion of its Intensive Care Unit that will double its capacity, officials said.
U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) joined hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, and frontline medical professionals on Tuesday to mark the completion of the expansion at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Fitzpatrick helped secure $1.2 million in Community Project Funding for the Bristol Township hospital.

The expansion increases the unit from 10 to 22 beds, and modernizes its core ICU infrastructure, including a new patient monitoring system, upgraded call and security systems, and the addition of specialized cardiac ICU beds so the hospital can respond to complex and life-threatening medical emergencies with speed and precision.
The unit's expansion comes just weeks after a gas explosion at the Silver Lake Nursing Home explosion when Lower Bucks Hospital operated under "extraordinary conditions: to care for victims, Fitzpatrick said.

“I was on site in the immediate aftermath and walked the command post with Governor Shapiro,” said Fitzpatrick. “What I witnessed was professionalism, skill, and compassion at the highest level. This expansion ensures that such care is supported by the infrastructure required to deliver it —every day, and in every circumstance.”
Michael Motte, the hospital's chief executive, said the expanded ICU unit allows the hospital to be better equipped to provide high-quality care to patients and enhance the health of the community.
Fitzpatrick, a certified EMT, emphasized that strengthening healthcare infrastructure means ensuring frontline professionals have the capacity and systems required to perform when it matters most.
“The doctors, nurses, and staff here already deliver exceptional care,” he said. “My priority is to ensure their expertise is matched by capacity, modern systems, and the ability to respond when circumstances are at their most serious. This expansion does exactly that — strengthening readiness and ensuring more patients can receive the care they need, close to home.”
